About Us:
Canoe Alaska, Inc. continues to be a small business, owned and operated by the Timm family. Hank and Mary have logged many thousands of river miles in their lifetimes, much of it guiding and leading groups. Their experiences in Alaska include building their own log home and raising three children in the Alaskan Bush for 18 years, teaching school, working as a wildlife biologist and outdoor educator, and exploring, paddling and hiking throughout Alaska and Yukon Territory. Both have been guides and open canoe instructors for Canoe Alaska since 1995. Hank has completed five 85 to 500 mile Alaska Mountain Wilderness Classic Races (won four), two 600 mile Dyea to Dawson Races in Yukon and three Yukon River Quest canoe races. Their two sons, Jeb and Jake, and daughter Molly have assisted in Canoe Alaska clinics and trips since 1996, and have shared most of those many wilderness miles with their parents.
